Top 3 for Oily Skin
by Guest Writer, Navi Gill
So, it’s your big day.
Naturally, one would be dreaming of a beautiful white dress, something blue, and the moment you say “I do”.
However, those of us that have enough grease on our faces to supply a fast food chain have other things on our mind.
How will my make up survive? Should I take one pack of blotting wipes or two for good measure?
Well, I have tried and tested many foundations in my day and I have narrowed down three winners that will get you trough your big day, or any other regular hot summer day.
foundation that I will suggest to you is the L’Oreal Infallible Pro Matte 24 Hour Foundation. True to it’s name this foundation keeps you matte, as a bonus it lasts all day!
I haven’t quite been brave enough to try it for 24 hours but this has been one of the only foundations that looks the same in the beginning of the day right through to the end.
The only area that any oil that *may* have showed up on a VERY hot summer day, would be in the nose area but other than that this one is a true winner.
Coverage: This foundation has very good coverage and will do a good job at helping to conceal blemishes, freckles or uneven skin tone.
Color Range: One downfall of this line is that finding your “perfect color” might not be the easiest task.
The line only has twelve options, with nothing for those super pale or for those that have a more pigmented skin tone.
For us middle of the range girls, well we are in luck.
Texture: The texture on this foundation is a mouse like consistency which makes it very easy to apply.
I did find that this foundation dries down very quick so its best you work quickly to blend it in or apply in smaller sections onto the face.
Price: approx. CAD $16.95 as at December 2017 (Wallmart)
foundation that I would recommend is the Maybelline Fit Me Matte and Poreless Foundation.
This foundation is matte however, I will say that it is not going to stay unless you prep you skin with a primer before application.
In terms of the “poreless” claim, I didn’t find that it did anything more than other foundations.
This foundation is great if you are looking for a more natural matte look, it wont look caked on.
Coverage: The coverage on this foundation is not heavy, it is rather light but buildable.
This foundation is going to be perfect for those that don’t have a lot of conceal or for those of you that want a more sheer/natural look.
Color Range: This foundation does a good job of having a good range of colors. There is something for the deep dark skin tones and also for those of us that resemble Casper.
With twenty four shades, you will have a good chance of finding something that fits your skin tone.
Texture: The texture on this foundation is a bit runny, you will likely need to pour this out on to you hand and then use a brush to apply to your face.
The bonus to it being more on the runny side is that it doesn’t dry as fast and you have a little more time to work it into skin.
Price: Approx CAD$8.96 as at December 2017 (Walmart)
and last foundation that I would recommend for your big day is the Makeup Forever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Stick Foundation.
This foundation is by far the best out of the three but it comes at a price.
Ultra HD? You might think were talking about a camera, nope! This foundation lives up to it claim of being Ultra HD. It does an amazing job of covering up your imperfections while still looking natural.
As an added bonus, there is no flash back on this foundation and it is perfect for close up pictures as it meant to photograph well with HD equipment.
Coverage: The coverage on this foundation is amazing! It is a full coverage foundation yet it feels like a light weight foundation so you get the best of both worlds.
While this has good full coverage, you will be happy to know that it doesn’t look like heavy.
Color Range: The color range on this foundation is good for those of us that are fair to medium skin tone. Where this foundation fails is for those that are of deeper skin tones, with only three to four colors in that range.
Texture: The texture of this foundation is unique. The format is in a stick, so you are able to take the stick directly to you face or alternatively dip your brush on the top of the foundation and then apply it to your face.
This foundation does tend to dry quickly, so this is another one that you would have to blend fairly quickly.
Price: Approx CAD $52.00 as at December 2017 (Sephora)
